Anton Gindely-Award

The Anton Gindely-Award for Culture and History of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe was awarded from 1997 to 2012 by the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe to honour scientists whose work has made a special contribution to cross-border cultural and historical understanding in the linguistic, national and confessional diversity of the region and thus to understanding the roots of the “new Europe”.

The Central Europe Prize was awarded annually from 1994 to 2010 by the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe and was endowed with EUR 7,200 by the Federal Ministry of Science and Research until 2010. The prize is awarded to personalities who have rendered outstanding services to the idea of Central Europe.
