Exchange with Professor LIU Suanyung Hans, representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Austria

On 11 February 2026, the IDM hosted an exchange with Professor LIU Suanyung Hans, representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Austria. First established in Vienna in 1972 as Institute of Chinese Culture, the office represents the interest of Taiwan in Austria in the absence of formal diplomatic relations, functioning as a de facto embassy. Its counterpart in Taiwan is the Austrian Office in Taipei.

The meeting offered an opportunity to learn more about Taipei Economic and Cultural Office’s work, share experiences and perspectives on the region, and explore possibilties for future collaboration. Together, we identified shared interests and potential projects to streghten our engagement in Central and Eastern Europe.
