Péter Techet for Élet és Irodalom on a new government policy in Hungary
In his essay for the Hungarian weekly Élet és Irodalom, Péter Techet argued that the new government in Budapest should not merely restore liberal democracy. Rather, it should introduce new measures, such as expanding direct democracy, strengthening local self-government, and possibly even federalizing the country, to help prevent the concentration of power and excessive centralization that characterized the rule of Viktor Orbán.
