Young Scientists Forum (YSF) on Central and South East Europe

Young Scientists Forum December 2008 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The IDM Young Scientists Forum addresses young scientists from/residing in Austria, Central and South East Europe dealing with these regions in different disciplines.

Main objective:

Presentation of research papers and projects to the public and promotion of exchange among the participants.

Further aims of the YSF:

- Motivation and reinforcement of young scientists engaging in the regions of Central and South East Europe;

- Promotion and creation of networking;

- Promotion of mobility, especially of young scientists from SEE.

Programme:

- Presentation of research papers/projects prepared by young scientists;

- Statements by high level experts;

- (Plenary) discussions;

- Social and cultural programme/activities (3rd day).


II YOUNG SCIENTISTS FORUM: 

Topic: “Cultural Changes in Central- and South East Europe after 1989”

Date: October 28-29, 2010

Venue: Austrian Academy of Sciences, Vienna

Target group: Young scientists dealing with Central and South East Europe in the fields of cultural studies, history, comparative literature, European ethnology, media studies, political sciences, geography and sociology.

I YOUNG SCIENTISTS FORUM (December 4-6, 2008):

At the I YSF on "System Changes of South East European Societies: Social, Political and Demographic Consequences" 24 young researchers from 11 Central, East and South East European countries in the fields of political sciences, history, economics, geography, law and sociology participated in the symposium in Vienna and in the social programme in Krems.   

Date and venue:

December 4-6, 2008; Fachhochschule des bfi Wien, Festsaal (Wohlmutstraße 22, A-1020 Vienna).

With lectures of Prof. Andreas Breinbauer (FH des bfi Wien), Prof. Dieter Segert (University of Vienna), Prof. Karl Kaser (University of Graz) and Michaela Salamun, PhD (University of Graz). 

Social Programme (Krems):

Included sightseeing, visitation of Museum Essl, Stift Klosterneuburg and dinner at Heuriger.

Publication:

The results of the I YSF have been published in: „System Changes in South Eastern Europe: Social, Political and Demographic Consequences”
