What tools do citizens have to make their voices heard in Brussels? How can they truly influence the direction of the European Union? In this talk, Alberto Alemanno explores how people across Europe can move from passive observers to active shapers of EU policy. From citizen initiatives to strategic legal action, he shows how democratic innovation and civic engagement can make the EU more responsive to the real needs and aspirations of its people.

Alberto Alemanno is the Jean Monnet Professor of European Union Law at HEC Paris and visiting professor at the College of Europe in Bruges and Natolin. He’s one of leading voices on the democratization of the European Union by theorizing and experimenting new forms of participatory governance and democratic innovations in the transnational space.
