Parliamentary Elections in Kosovo
Date/Time
February 3, 2025
13:00 - 14:30 CEST/CET
Location: Online (Zoom and YouTube)
On February 9, 2025, parliamentary elections will take place in Kosovo. The Southeast European country, which aspires to EU membership but is still not recognized by some EU member states, frequently makes headlines due to its relationship with Serbia. The parliamentary elections therefore also have a significant impact on foreign policy: Which government will be able to further the rapprochement with the European Union? What compromises with Serbia will the new government be willing (or forced) to make? The answers to these questions depend on whether the current course of the social-democratic Prime Minister Albin Kurti, whose party is leading in the polls, will continue, or whether the conservative opposition parties, which are also divided among themselves, can achieve a change in government.
The Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe (IDM), together with the Campus Tivoli of the ÖVP and the Karl Renner Institute, is organizing an online discussion on February 3 about the starting position and possible developments after the elections in Kosovo, featuring experts from the region.
