Exchange with Petar Rosandić, founder of SOS Balkanroute

On 22 September 2025, the IDM hosted an exchange with Petar Rosandić, founder of the humanitarian and human rights organization SOS Balkanroute. Established in Vienna in 2019, the organization raises awareness of refugee rights violations along the Balkan route, supports local aid initiatives, and collects donations to improve refugees’ living conditions. The Balkan route remains one of the most frequently used migration corridors to the EU, posing significant humanitarian, political, and diplomatic challenges.

The meeting offered an opportunity to learn more about SOS Balkanroute’s work, share experiences and perspectives on the region, and explore possibilities for future collaboration. Together, we identified shared interests and potential projects to strengthen our engagement in the Western Balkans.
