Expert Workshop “The Recent Developments in the Black Sea Region”

On 18 June, Sophia Beiter participated as a speaker in the expert workshop “The Recent Developments in the Black Sea Region”, organized by the Austrian Institute for European and Security Policy (AIES) and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Defence in Vienna. Other speakers included Hürcan Asli Aksoy from the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), Sergiy Gerasymchuk from the Ukrainian PRISM Foreign Policy Council, Natia Seskuria from the Regional Institute for Security Studies in Georgia, and Johannes Leitner from Political Risk and Strategy Advisory. The war in Ukraine, Russia’s imperial ambitions, and their impact on the broader Black Sea region, as well as the varying interests of regional actors were discussed. The session was moderated by Livia Benko from AIES.
