M.Talik’s talk about the new Austrian government for the Institute of Western Affairs (Poland)

On 2 April, Malwina Talik delivered an online talk “Koalicja kompromisów – nowy rząd Austrii” (Coalition of Compromises – The New Austrian Government) for the experts and analysts of the Polish research institute Instytut Zachodni (Institute for Western Affairs). The talk analyzed the outcomes of the 2024 Austrian parliamentary elections and the subsequent rounds of negotiations that led to the formation of the new government.

Talik also examined the coalition agreement, focusing on the compromises made among the three coalition partners with different political agendas. She discussed the priorities set out in the coalition programme, the initial policy decisions, and the challenges the new government faces in balancing differing viewpoints. Finally, she addressed the prospects for the coalition’s durability and effectiveness.

The event concluded with a Q&A session, during which participants exchanged views on Austria’s political future and its potential implications for Central Europe.
