Malwina Talik Moderates a High-Level Panel on Democratic Resilience

As holistic security extends beyond a purely military concept to include economic, energy, and health security, effective defence requires not only increased military spending but also sustained attention and investment in these broader areas. Strengthening democratic resilience and societal resistance forms one of its key pillars. This theme shaped the discussion in the first panel, “Security as a Broader and Holistic Concept Beyond Traditional Military Paradigms,” which was moderated by Malwina Talik, with Christian Wigand, Victoria Wullf Barreiro, Wojciech Solak, Kristian Herbolzheimer, Judith Kolhenberger and Siiri Aulik as speakers; with keynote remarks by Johannes Swoboda and concluding remarks by Othmar Karas.

The panel was part of a closed-door conference “Democracies Under Threat: From Military Defence to Democratic Resilience” organized by the Representation of the Government of Catalonia in Austria and International Institute for Peace.
