The EU – Western Balkans Zagreb Summit held on 6 May reaffirmed the EU’s support towards the region to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, while highlighting the need for a continued commitment to EU values and reforms. At the same time, the leaders reiterated the region’s European perspective, same as they did in the Zagreb Summit in 2008. While Western Balkans countries are dealing with the pandemic and preparations for its economic aftermath which will follow it, internal political tensions remain; Kosovo’s internal power struggle active even during Covid-19 lockdown, Serbia prepares for its elections on 21 June, while the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade has stalled since 2018.

Erhard Busek (IDM) talks to Mimika Dobroshi, GiZ expert supporting Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, about her personal impressions on developments in Kosovo concerning the current situation after the fall of the government, the current stability, but also the working situation.
