Serbia does not calm down, nor does the region. After the harshest lockdown of all European countries, a boycott of the election by the opposition, and massive public unrest after alleged ballot-rigging and bad COVID-19 management, the autocratic President Aleksandar Vučić still keeps his plans for the formation of a new government in secret.

But the country is not a sole example in the region, which experiences constant deterioration in democratic quality, despite some progress in the EU accession process, by opening up new chapters in the negotiations.

Lucas M. Schubert talks with Miloš Mitrović, editor at Danas daily newspaper about the current political situation in Serbia as well as in the region.
