The future of European Union is at stake, and the stake are high. The Russian invasion of Ukraine was a wakeup call in addressing various challenges such as speaking with one voice on foreign and security policy issues, migratory pressures, climate change or rule of law deficiencies in the EU. With a little over a year until the next European Parliament elections, now is the time for national governments to think through these challenges and prepare themselves on how to tackle them while at the same engage citizens in EU policy making so they voice is heard on the EU level.

This discussion will try to answer the following questions:
• What topics and narratives will shape the next EP elections?
• Where do we stand with a long-standing effort to involve the electorate more, motivate citizens to vote in European elections and finally how to ‘Europeanise’ the elections?
• Can the EU fulfil its intention to be a geopolitical actor on an equal footing with other powers?
• Is EU responding strongly enough to the threats to the democratic liberal order both internally and externally?

The goal of the event is to build enhancement engagement and participation of EU citizens and deepen knowledge and awareness about the EU among citizens.

Refreshments will be served after the discussion.
