Sophia Beiter (IDM) at CEE HER Workshop: “Celebrating Women’s leadership”
As part of the CEE HER Initiative by GLOBSEC, a two-day workshop titled “Celebrating Women’s Leadership” was organized from 10 to 11 July 2023 in Bratislava. A small group of women experts from various professional backgrounds in Eastern and Central Europe participated; among them was IDM Research Associate Sophia Beiter. The workshop aimed to offer participants the opportunity to learn from successful women leaders, engage in discussions about the essential qualities of effective leadership, share their own challenges and experiences, and establish a supportive network of female professionals.
“Trusting yourself is a skill like any other – you can learn and train it.” This valuable insight was just one of many inspirational takeaways from the conversations with accomplished female leaders Denisa Frelichova, Veronika Hudzikova, Petra Kotuliakova and Martina Slabejova. The participants engaged in discussions about the obstacles women face on their career paths, the compatibility of family and professional life and the importance of including men in discussions about female leadership.
On the second day, the thought-provoking talks were followed by a training session on analytical thinking by Martin Poliačik and Jakub Kobela from the Critical Thinking Academy. Through a combination of theoretical input and practical skill-building exercises, the participants practiced using critical thinking as a tool for structuring their thoughts and for enhancing their argumentation skills.
