Have you already made unforgettable memories along the shores of the Danube? Perhaps this river was a place of new beginnings or farewells for you, the start of a love story or the stage of a great journey.

How has the Danube affected you, your family and your surroundings? That’s the question we posed on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe (IDM) in 2023. We created the challenge #MyDanubeStory on the story.one platform and invited anyone interested to send in their personal Danube story.

Now it is time to present the result of the challenge – a collection of 16 beautifully diverse, fascinating and unique stories, all connected in one way or another to the Danube. The stories show the diverse role of the Danube in history and in our personal lives, while the river itself is continuously flowing, regardless of wars, walls, personal victories and failures…

On the World Book Day 2024, let’s listen together to #MyDanubeStory!
