Péter Techet for Standard on conservative alternatives against illiberalism in East Central Europe

For the EastBlog of the Austrian daily newspaper “Der Standard”, Péter Techet analyses how illiberal populists in East-Central Europe, particularly in Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, are increasingly being challenged and, in some cases, successfully combated by right-wing conservative forces. The occasion for the analysis is the high popularity of the Hungarian politician Péter Magyar, who aims to challenge Viktor Orbán from the right and has already become the strongest opposition force.
